THE JERSEY BAILIFF 2019 - 'THE JERSEY WAY' MADE FLESH: A TRUE VIDEO NASTY

  • Attack on the Independent Care Inquiry
  • Attack on brave Police S.I.O. who led abuse investigation
  • Attack on former Politicians who did the right thing
  • Excuses for a State in the 21st Century still having no separation of powers
  • A complete denial of reality...

Bailiff Sir William Bailhache - A man who clearly doesn't understand irony?

PLUS CA CHANGE, PLUS C'EST LE MEME CHOSE

Any UK based readers who think that we have dire political/constitutional problems here with arrogant public school bully boy Boris Johnson shamelessly playing fast and loose with the law and his own High Office really ought to spare a few minutes to watch the following, truly shocking video at the end of this blog post.

This features the Bailiff of the British Crown Dependency of Jersey - a wholly unelected public school throwback to the 17th Century who even makes Jacob Rees-Mogg look caring and contemporary - allowed by the UK's studied collusion to sit as both Chief Judge of the Tax Haven's Judiciary and  President & Speaker of the legislature.

Just as Bailiffs have done for over 800 long years!

Indeed, as viewers will hear with the raucous stamping of feet  - rather like that of recently shod sheep - greeting the Bailiff's inane, bitter and deeply offensive utterings of denial about the existence of the infamous 'Jersey Way' so inherently linked to his Office things really do seem stuck in a time warp in Jersey.

Certainly this indicates to me that it really must be sadly acknowledged that the aforesaid shocking 'Jersey Way' of burying things 'bad for the Island's image' rather than dealing with them a handful of politicians (I was very proud to be one of them) alongside bloggers and other anti-abuse campaigners fought so hard to change in support of brave Senior Police Officers Graham Power and Lenny Harper has now slipped back to pre-2008 levels.

For what else can one conclude when a member of the Jersey public feels the need to email me describing her disgust at the Chairman of the Privileges & Procedures Committee - in the lady's words 'sucking up to the Bailiff rather than holding him to account' for abusing a mechanism usually only used for advising States Members of house-keeping matters such as altered meeting dates etc and instead making it a platform for an embittered tirade on his last day in Office ?

A 'disaffected' Police Officer to Bailhache - A hero to victims of 'The Jersey Way'

What can you conclude when you hear this sorry excuse for a Crown Officer insult the former S.I.O. Lenny Harper who strove to uncover what Jersey's Bailiffs and senior politicians had turned a blind to for decades as apparently being just a 'disaffected' police officer?

Or when the tiny handul of current States Members who were disgusted and wanted to ask Bailhache questions were denied this?

A DANGEROUS RELIC OF FEUDALISM

After all, picking up a salary twice, let us not forget, that of Prime Minister Johnson's Bailiff Sir William Bailhache sits atop a jurisdiction not just still without any real Separation of Powers!  But...

  • Still without any holding to account by UK Monarch and/or government.
  • Still without any acceptance of their own appalling failings.
  • Still without any aceptance of the need to change.
  • Still without any evident understanding of just how terribly all of this - and this latest display of arrogance in particular - simply must negatively impact upon the victims.

The role is of course defiantly claimed by local Establishment apologists desperate to retain the status quo to help maintain their own power as being wholly 'a-political'. To this all I would advise new readers/viewers is watch the video above for yourself and make up your own mind. As to what set Bailiff Bailhache off on his latest revisionary rant...

Hundreds of thousands of pages of documented evidence

The tinder for this was the second report and recommendations of the £24 million Independent Care Inquiry panel brought over to investigate many decades of appalling judicial, governmental and senior Civil Service failings and downright betrayal of countless children in the 'care' of the States over a period stretching right back to the immediate post-war years.

Hundreds of thousands of statements and other documents were amassed and assessed by the Independent Care Inquiry over a period of years. All of this within a Terms of Reference framework admittdely wholly lacking in the teeth to ultimately hold people in power legally to account.

Nevertheless, everyone involved appears to at least accept the existence of what has become notoriously, globally known as 'The Jersey Way' as being central to this. Except the likes of those who really need to take it on board the most: Bailhache, his equally arrogant predecessors and the foot-stomping embarrassments we hear on the video.

How damningly ironic a thought to end on then but to point out that the very Bailiff who refuses to acknowledge the existence of 'The Jersey Way' has just demeonstrated it in personification:

'The Jersey Way' made flesh...

  1. Haven't even finished watching this yet but just had to say a big thank you for putting this up. Damning.

  2. William Bailhache is a disgrace plain and simple. Your terminology is spot on. The Jersey Way made flesh. As you also suggest it really does appear as if the last ten years never happened. Those stamping their feet should be ashamed.

  3. Bailhache just like his big brother really doesn't get it does he? Really he appears to live in some kind of alternative universe where presumably he and his two predecessors have always been proven right and are respected? Needs help. The question I keep coming back to though is why are these people so desperate, so hell bent on retaining power?

  4. You jokingly(?) refer to Bailiff Bailhache sitting on his throne. But can you enlighten us? Who is the chap next to him? Is he in turn squatting on a potty? Is he a leprechaun? Or is he just very, very, very small?

    1. I believe this is the current Jersey Lieutenant Governor, Sir Stephen Dalton. Though as he certainly wasn't there when I was in the States I stand to be corrected by others.

    2. Hard to say. You can hardly see him. Plus Bill Bailhache is about 11 feet tall. Probably explains why the blood doesn't seem to visit his brainbox too often?

  5. This is indeed the new Lt Governor Trevor, who from my understanding is a very nice man. Perhaps that accounts for the look of utter contempt directed towards BB which he rightly deserves for his abhorrent speech. We will be hearing a lot more of this I'm sure.

  8. So William Bailhache used *THE JERSEY WAY* to deny there is a *JERSEY WAY*? You couldn't make this stuff up!!!!!

    2. Thank you for publishing the video because I had heard about the speech and couldn't believe what I was hearing. Now I've heard the speech I still can't believe what I'm hearing!!!!!!!!!!!!! The man is a deranged lunatic!

  9. And on Twitter you tell us the buffoon in the silly red cloak gets more than 300.000 quid? Is everyone on Jersey a bit stupid or do they just have loads of money to burn?

  13. Trevor.

After the retiring Bailiff, William Bailhache, completely vindicated Lenny Harper and his (Operation Rectangle) Team during the former's abuse of position, and political speech.

I was granted an exclusive interview with Mr. Harper and got his response to the vindication, and much more, HERE.

  15. With all this stuff going on in Jersey you must have enough material for one of your legendary BTR's now Trev? Did you know that a sitting Jurat is related to a high profile alleged serial rapist in Jersey?

  17. Speaking as an English mainlander I'm not aware of all the facts but this seems ridiculous to me.
What is the general public's consensus of opinion?
Couldn't you organise public protests or civil disobedience?
According to Lenny Harper the Jersey police officers aren't compromised so wouldn't they protect lawfully protesting Jersey citizens?

    1. Anonymous.

Unfortunately getting people to protest to anything like the level it would take to bring about change just isn't going to happen on Jersey.

Too many people have been cowered by the fashion by which those who have tried to 'do the right thing' and lead from the front so to speak have been betrayed by the very forces an outsider might understandablyconclude would be supportive/protective of them.

I personally now believe that real change on Jersey will only come about by consequence of two specific things happening on Jersey.

One is genuine, brave and radical leadership from within the States. This just does exist currently. All one lone voice can do is keep flagging up the issues for posterity. Everyone tells me effective wider 'opposition' has just been absorbed.

The second is an econmic collapse leading to people who would otherwise just take care of their own interests and keep their head down finally realising that if they still continue to do nothing in 'I'm alright, Jack' fashion they and their loved ones will suffer long term calamity.

With regard to this second point. I would say that regardless of the Polly Anna spoutings of government and Finance industry should Brexit really go pear-shaped to the degree the lunatic Boris Johnson wants then they might be in for a nasty shock.

  18. (Sorry if this post appears twice- I messed up the Reply procedure)

    Trevor

Similar to most people who voted for Brexit, I voted to leave because I'm extremely worried about uncontrolled immigration. For far too long the powers that be suppressed opposition to this mass 'foreign invasion' by labelling dissenters as 'racists'. Now, when it's too late, a growing number of people, including myself, are slowing waking up to the fact that being 'patriotic' is not being racist and being labelled with this unwanted stigma no longer has the serious implications it once had. In fact, it can now be seen as a badge of honour. Adverse perceptions can be swung around to advantage if there is communication between like minded people and 'New Media/Social Media' provides that communication between people and it seems that's what's required on Jersey.

With regard what you say about Boris, I can't argue with your comments (lol) but you have to see him for what he is. He comes as a result of all the messing around over the last three years. We've had enough and we need action NOW!! The politicians are treating the voters with contempt saying we didn't know what we were voting for.
Rubbish. I voted to leave- as in bye bye we're leaving- gone.
Nigel Farage speaks very eloquently for me. The EU is a failed political, social and economic experiment. It's a sinking ship and Britain is taking to the life rafts before it's too late. Perhaps, perhaps..... this wake up call is just what Jersey, or specifically, it's people, need to expedite change.

  19. Hey Big Trev how about a Bald Truth Review? Could I also put in a request for Shona to write something for the blog? You two are legends and I hope you come back to Jersey to help clean this place up because as hard as it might be to believe it's actually got worse since you were here.

    2. I thought you mentioned previously that you have a recorded phone message from a local nut job you were thinking on publishing? Is there any movement in that direction?

      Delete
    3. In answer to your question: yes, I can state that I received a recording a short time ago from a member of the Jersey public.

I should point out that it is not the original phone tape but rather has been copied on to a CD. You can nevertheless clearly hear all that is said, its clear beginning and end.

As to what to do with it? Only time will tell.

    4. You could give it to me? Boy, I know exactly what to do with it!!!

    7. As to the blog time of posting: being rather busy with other matters I had somehow comletely forgotten that today is my late Mum's birthday.

So always believing the most important things come first off for a little drinkypoo, darlings and a toast to the Great Lady! Will put the latest offering up at lunchtime tomorrow.

      Cheerio for now, boys.

PS If anyone is bored go on line and watch Jersey's government debating an apparent new 'fad' - women breast-feeding! Ah yes, Jersey politicians do themselves proud once again!

    1. To the two posters above - thanks. As to the new post this will be up by 6pm. To be honest I have been so unwell on top of being busy I have been tempted just leave it a week.

As there have been a number of private messages about doing a new BTR video all being as it is after this post I may work on that with the view to putting it up sometime in the first half of November.

      Cheers.
